The Beach Club
Médano Beach, elevated —
private sand, raw bar, and the Zarandeado snapper.
SUR Beach House is the oceanfront extension of the Bahia Hotel & Beach House, occupying one of the most coveted stretches of Médano Beach. It functions as both a full-service restaurant with a covered ocean-view terrace and as a private beach club — roped daybeds and lounge chairs placed directly in front of the waves, with a Land's End panorama framing everything from the east. A dedicated security boundary keeps beach vendors off the property entirely, which is a rarity on Médano's otherwise high-traffic public shoreline.
The kitchen runs a Baja-Med program that punches well above its beach club context — a serious raw bar with Kampachi Tiradito and rare Chocolata Clams, wood-fired Zarandeado Red Snapper as the signature centerpiece, and a mixology program built around mezcal, rosé, and sake. The beach club operates on a minimum consumption model that converts entirely to food and drink credit, making it one of the more honest daybed setups in Los Cabos. The afternoon soundtrack is handled by rotating DJs and live saxophone players drifting through the sea breeze.
Is Sur Beach House Good for Brunch on Médano Beach?
Sur Beach House is the oceanfront dining extension of the Bahia Hotel on Médano Beach — a refined Baja-Mediterranean menu with direct sand views, open for breakfast from 8:30 AM, and consistently one of the top spots for a sit-down oceanfront brunch in Cabo.
The Menu
Baja-Med from the sand — what the kitchen does best
Ricotta & Lemon Pancakes · Chicharron & Octopus Tacos
Breakfast runs daily 8:30–11:30 AM with a refined Baja-Med morning menu — Ricotta and Lemon Pancakes alongside the more adventurous Chicharron and Octopus Tacos, paired with house-pressed smoothies.
Kampachi Tiradito · Local Oysters · Chocolata Clams
The raw bar is a standout — premium chilled seafood platters, Kampachi Tiradito, freshly shucked local oysters, and rare regional Chocolata Clams sliced tableside. A strong case for starting here.
Zarandeado Red Snapper — Wood-Fired
The kitchen's most celebrated plate — whole red snapper butterflied and cooked over a wood fire in the Zarandeado tradition, a Nayarit-coast technique that produces a crisp exterior with smoky, tender flesh.
Grilled Octopus with Paprika Oil
Tender grilled octopus finished with paprika oil — one of the most consistently ordered items at the beach club and a direct expression of the Baja-Med culinary philosophy.
Mezcal Cocktails · Rosé · Sake · Mexican Craft Beer
A sommelier-overseen program featuring signature mezcal cocktails, ice-cold rosés, sake, and local Mexican craft beers. The drink program is built for long afternoon sessions in the Médano sun.
Private Daybed Lounge — Vendor-Free Zone
The roped boundary and dedicated security prevent vendor interruptions — one of the few stretches of Médano Beach where you can actually relax without constant foot traffic. Min. consumption converts entirely to credit.
Before You Go
How beach access works & what to book in advance
The beach lounge chairs and daybeds require a minimum consumption of $100–$130+ USD per person depending on season and events — this converts completely into food and drink credit, so it functions more as a pre-paid tab than an access fee. Reservations for both the restaurant terrace and the beachfront lounge should be made weeks ahead via OpenTable; prime weekend spots disappear quickly. Bahia Hotel guests get a complimentary golf cart shuttle to the sand from the hotel lobby.
SUR is one of the few Médano Beach setups that genuinely justifies the premium — the vendor-free boundary alone is worth the minimum spend for anyone who has experienced the relentless foot traffic on the public beach to either side. The Cabo SUP rental and guided excursion desk operates directly from the lounge chairs, so water sports require no additional coordination.
