The Experience

The trumpet plays, the gong rings —
the sun drops behind the Arch.

Sunset Monalisa is carved into the sea cliffs of Misiones del Cabo, with multi-tiered stone terraces that hang directly over the water and a front-row view of Land's End and the Cabo Arch. Named one of the coolest restaurants in the world by the New York Times, its signature moment happens every single evening: a live trumpeter plays as the sun approaches the horizon, followed by a traditional gong ceremony marking the exact moment of sunset. The whole restaurant pauses.

The kitchen works in a modernist Mediterranean register — house-made pastas finished tableside, locally sourced seafood, and artisan desserts across 3-, 5-, or 7-course formats. The front-row Ocean Terrace seats are the most coveted tables in Cabo and carry a per-person surcharge on top of the meal price that does not apply toward the dinner bill.

Where to Sit

Three seating tiers — very different price points

Most Coveted

Ocean Terrace

Front-rail seats directly over the surf break — the closest position to the Arch and the most dramatic sunset angle on the property.

SURCHARGE

$25–$195 per person (non-creditable toward dinner)

Standard Tables

Higher terraces set slightly back from the rail — still outstanding views of Land's End and the sunset, with a slightly more sheltered position from wind.

SURCHARGE

Lower tier — standard reservation fee applies

Good fallback if Ocean Terrace is sold out

Monalisa Lounge

Casual palapa bar seating with individual appetizers and mixology — lower deposit, no full dinner required. Best for first-timers testing the venue.

SURCHARGE

Lower entry deposit — no dinner minimum

Cannot be upgraded to dinner seating after arrival

Is Sunset Monalisa the Best Sunset Dinner in Los Cabos?

Sunset Monalisa is the iconic cliffside Mediterranean restaurant directly above El Arco on the Tourist Corridor — famous for its live trumpet marking the moment the sun touches the Pacific horizon. It's the most theatrical dinner experience in Los Cabos.

Menu Highlights

What the kitchen does best

Signature pasta

Flambéed Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe

House-made pasta finished tableside with a theatrical flame presentation — one of the kitchen's most memorable signatures.

Seafood

Daily Local Catch

Freshly sourced local seafood prepared in the modernist Mediterranean style — preparation varies by course format and season.

Protein upgrade

Filet Mignon

Available as a premium upgrade within the multi-course format. A common addition for couples that pushes the total check into the $400–$500+ range.

Desserts

Artisan Dessert Course

Rotating artisan dessert selections close each multi-course menu. Presentation quality matches the rest of the theatrical dining experience.

Lounge option

Monalisa Lounge — Palapa Bar

A lower-commitment entry point: pay a smaller deposit, order individual appetizers and custom cocktails from the covered palapa bar without the full dinner obligation.

Before You Go

What you need to know before booking

The front-rail Ocean Terrace is one of the most competitive dinner reservations in all of Cabo. Book on OpenTable or directly through the Sunset Monalisa concierge as early as possible — particularly for sunset window arrivals. The surcharge for premium tiers is paid at booking and is non-refundable and non-creditable toward the food bill. Plan your total budget accordingly.

The terraces face open ocean and can experience sharp temperature drops and sudden wind shifts after dark. A light layer is strongly recommended — heavy house blankets are available on request, but the wind can surprise first-timers on an exposed cliffside table.
